Saturn-Pluto and the Wars of Interest by Vassilis Papadolias

(first publication on newageastrology.gr)

August 1914, September 1939, February and May 1948, October 1956, April and June 1982, September 2001. What do these dates have in common in the history of the 20th century? Significant events in the history of mankind as the start of the first (August 1914) and second (September 1939) World War, international crises impact on the world scene as the war independence of Israel and the Arab-Israeli wars (May 1948, October 1956 invasion of Lebanon in June 1982), coups in Eastern Bloc (communist coup in Czechoslovakia in February 1948 and intervention in Hungary in October 1956), regional conflicts such as War of the Falklands in April 1982 all share a common denominator. The effort to overthrow the established political order by forces based on force of arms, or at least non-legal means.

The list lengthens and continues with more events in Greek history known as the Asia Minor disaster in September 1922, the coup in Cyprus in July 1974, the rebellion in July 1965 or the fall of the Mitsotakis government in September 1993. And of course we left the last major event of the 21st century till today, September 11.

What do these events have in common from an astrological point of view, so you can see them here all together on the same page? The factor that links them in our view is the background of the contradiction to (or support of) interests which are indicated by the aspects between Saturn and Pluto. The chart of the First World War we see that Saturn and Pluto’s conjunction becomes progressively narrower. Here we have a case where states marched hand in hand with the economic interests and actually sought and supported the war.

world_10The chart of the Second World War on the other hand comes despite the will of the States (square), since there is necessarily revisionist forces in Europe.

world_11But the most striking example is the Anglo-French intervention in Suez in 1956. The square is separating, as Nasser representing the national government (Saturn) is already attacking Multinational Capital (Pluto) by taking the canal. Once Saturn shows the will to leave the aspect Pluto feels free to respond and counterattacks (this is an indication that Saturn aspects some times stop things from happening instead of making them happening; instead they happen when Saturn leaves the grip or in this case the defence on or against the other planet).

suez_c10In all the above charts and in others to see in the Appendix of the article the strike is usually indicated by some aspect of Mars or Uranus. The background however is always related to rule of the conflict or cooperation of interest. Traditionally Saturn is the planet of the state. State entity that has certain boundaries and given legal status. It has a government with structure which supports and carries out its function. A national economy based on mass production (which we call traditional capitalism).

Pluto on the other hand is a more recently discovered planet and is associated with what we call international capital. Oil companies, for example, or control of resources generally is one of the themes of the power that comes through them. With Pluto in Capricorn we have the international funds and the international banks have a tendency to get into crisis, i.e. the competition for the pipelines maximizing and the international companies are generally attacking what’s called nation-state.

Pluto, however, apart from the international interests is most clearly associated with international terrorism. Why should we say that if the 70 associated terrorism with the Left and Uranus and overthrow or Neptune and mass ideologies, the current Islamic terrorism is more related to Pluto. Underground, ruthless emotionally, if we consider the state of the bombers, affecting mainly the civilian population in the context of total war, terrorism today is purely plutonic and attacking the state.

The most glaring example of this conflict we see in the chart of Sept. 11. In a chart where a big triangle in the air dominates, signifying a global media event, or global plan. The big triangles are not always so good in these cases, because like the start of the Second World War suggests they signify long-term plans behind the action of squares. They also make it easy for them to proceed, whereas a Saturn or a Uranus square would either slow things and obstacles in the way or cause a reaction from people and cancel the plans.

In the chart of Sept. 11 Saturn again has just left the opposition with Pluto. Many wonder why many events happen when Saturn leaves the aspect. But we have already explained above this is happening because is then Plutonic forces feel that escaped the monitoring eye of the state.

septem10Examples of a start of war close to a Saturn / Pluto aspect can be found further more. The Saturn – Pluto aspect is not always close enough to justify a connection of the wars to a struggle between state and terrorism or state and international capital. But there is always an underlying pattern of changing things using violence. In the Greek environment the aspects between Saturn and Pluto seem to be more manifested as political crisis and collapses of government via the implication of financial or political interests. Such examples are the chart of the Asia Minor Disaster (including a militarz coup chart, which happened onlz two days before ), the coup in 1974 in Cyprus that brought the invasion, the defection from the United Centre Party Government in 1965 and the fall of the Mitsotakis government in 1993. Could we be expecting something similar in October with square Saturn – Pluto? Let’s see the charts in detail before proceeding.

(Note: the article was written back September 2009 and in October the Karamanlis government lost the election by Socialists. Two years later we found out the prime minister Papandreou had already conducted secret meetings with IMF leader Mr Stross Kahn. Everybody knew Greece was heading towards IMF, but the greeks themselves).

asia_m10The chart of Asia Minor Disaster has a big triangle with Venus (international relations) in Scorpio in trine to both Pluto and Uranus. This could be interpreted as the international relations submitted or yielded to interests and allowing revisionism. Indeed in Asia Minor the foreign powers didn’t even bother collecting the refugees from the sea waters. Saturn in square to Pluto indicates the national state struggling against powers, which want it to submit. Nationalism in Turkey considered greek invasion such a threat, coming from the foreign powers and using Greece as a lever to achieve their goals.

A few days later, on October 9, when Mars opposes to Pluto and makes a T-Square with Saturn and Pluto, the crowd is protesting in Athens and requires the execution of traitors. In Turkey the same aspect is expressed as state violence (Mars in Capricorn) towards the refugees (Pluto = death in Cancer = Moon = people). As we can see the aspects are not expressed in all countries in the same way, but depending on the local situation are expressed each time differently.

coup_i10The chart of the coup in Cyprus in 1974 that led to the incursion by the Turks also shows a square of Saturn to Pluto. Only this time Saturn shows a weak state (in Cancer). The aspect is separating with a relatively wide orbit so many would not considered it the cause of the event. Instead it would seem more likely to turn to the square of Sun and Uranus. However, although this square is most likely related to indicating the exact day if the event it is the fact of several months of competition between the government of Cyprus and EOKA B (an organization which acted as we would say today paramilitary), that created the general background which brought the event in the first place. And this competion and power struggle reminds us of square Saturn – Pluto actually. If we were to generalize an event requires a slow transit which creates the pattern and the background a slow transit which specifies the exact time.

1965_p10Similar analysis is possible for the day of the parlamentary coup back in July 15, 1965, (an important day for Greece, which is considered to open the way for the military junda two years later). With Saturn in opposition to Uranus and Pluto and Jupiter forming a T-square to those two, this led to a great contrast accentuating the size of events. What we also have here to ignite events is not a Sun/Uranus square but a big trine of a weal Sun in Cancer in trine to Saturn and Neptune, a triangle very convenient for the establishment (indeed they saw this as a restoration to order).

1993_g10

But also in smaller scale events such as the fall of the Mitsotakis government in 1993 we have the predisposition of the conflict of interests. This time it was a huge contract assigned to Siemens for digital telecommunications. A Saturn / Pluto square again and again Saturn is just leaving the aspect, Pluto gets his chance. Square Mars / Uranus stands for a sudden and violent break of negotiations (Mars in Libra).

So, after all this study what do we make of Saturn / Pluto aspects; An aspect to be seen ahead three times from October 2009 to August 2010? Will it drop governments? Will it signify a military intervention for matters of oil or terrorism; An attack to a sovereign state? A new world war?

As the actual 3rd part of the article was referring to prediction to the greek political scene in 2009 (irrelevant at this time), i thought to proceed with referring to more charts connected to wars of interests which bare the mark of a Saturn/Pluto aspect. The charts are placed here only as references (in the original article they were part of an Appendix) so we can judge and comment at will…
